Sociological Pespective
Teen pregnancy affects more than just the teen mother. The pregnancy also affects her partner, and both sets of parents, and society as a whole. Teen parents experience a lot of struggles including: loss of freedom, taking care of a newborn, juggling school and parenting, family discord, financial stress, and hindrance in pursuing educational and career goals.
This not only affects the immediate family and friends of the teens that are pregnant, but society on a larger level. Teens are not as likely to obtain high paying jobs with a high school education. Teens also may not be able to conitnue a higher education such as college. With no means to obtain higher paying jobs, teen mothers may not be able to stay out of poverty. With teen parents living in poverty, they must rely on government assisstance; which is paid for by tax payers and puts a further strain on the economy.
